Ground Protection Mats And Their Advantages
Ground protection mats are a fantastic product which is incredibly helpful during the wet months or when you need to protect sensitive surfaces. Temporary access and forming temporary roads is a common problem during autumn, winter and spring when there is rain around and the ground becomes soft and wet. Trucks, excavators, utes, cars, people, you name it get stuck in the mud and make an almighty mess!
Ground protection mats are known by a range of different names depending on who you talk to. Some common names for these mats include track mats, mud mats, truck mats, road mats and temporary road matting.
Advantage Of Using Ground Protection Mats
- Cost effective solution
Simply no maintenance required apart from cleaning. Long life span. Durable material. Reusable. We have several hundred mats in our hire stock, some mats are 5 years old and apart from some wear and tear you’d expect they are in very good condition.
- Adaptable to weather conditions
Track mats can be used in virtually any weather scenario, whether it dry conditions or very wet conditions.
- Non-slip nature
Our mud mats are manufactured with two non-slip properties: i) a raised tread pattern on the surface providing grip, but also ii) small microdots cover the surface between these raised ridges. These small dots make a huge difference to the overall grip the mud mat provides in wet conditions.
- Durable
The truck mats are made from a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) which is a very strong dense plastic. In small sizes it appears fairly rigid but in actual fact it’s a fairly flexible plastic which helps spread any load that gets put on it.
- Easy to clean
Due to the nature of what the road mats are made from they’re easy to clean, a hose or water blaster cleans them up in no time. Best part is they don’t perish like plywood does over a period of time.
- Easy to use
Our temporary road matting is specifically manufactured for us with 2 handles on each side, that’s 8 handles total per mat. They are super easy to drag around or for two people to carry. While being 40kg each they’re remarkably easy to move around.
- Eco-friendly
The HDPE material the ground protection mats are made from is 100% recyclable, but also due to the mats long life span and their reusability they are a great eco-friendly product..
